Nonprofits Grants Provide Access to Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

Nonprofits providing physical therapy and rehabilitation offer hope and healing to individuals recovering from injury, surgery, or chronic conditions. These organizations coordinate care within their communities and ensure that everyone receives the care they deserve. This includes athletes striving to get back on the field, seniors aiming to maintain their independence, children with chronic illnesses, and adults overcoming medical challenges like strokes, joint replacements, or chronic pain. These nonprofits and organizations are dedicated to healing. They help individuals regain strength, rebuild confidence, and live healthier, more active lives.

Nonprofit Grants for Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

1. Improve the Lives of At-Risk Military Veterans!

Grants to nonprofits to improve the lives of injured military veterans. The funding supports programs that include therapeutic and recreational activities and rehabilitation programs, along with a supply of mobility items. The Trust’s grant program for nonprofits fulfills a need or array of needs for sick, wounded, homeless and/or otherwise at-risk veterans. This includes rehabilitation for physical wounds from combat.

2. Address Unexpected Financial Challenges!

There are grants up to $3,000 to professional dancers to address unexpected financial challenges. Eligible expenses include food, housing, medical, transportation, and other essential needs. Priority consideration will be for applicants with an urgent and/or emergency need. Expenses will be for past due, current, and/or future obligations. Additionally, essential expenses will be for physical therapy, as well as for medical, dental, and mental healthcare insurance premiums.

3. Occupational Rehabilitation for Disabled Individuals

Grants to tribal organizations for occupational rehabilitation activities for individuals with disabilities. Funding supports services that prepare tribal members residing within or near Federal and State reservations with high-quality employment that will lead to economic self-sufficiency. The program’s goal is to assist American Indians with disabilities, consistent with such individuals’ strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interests, and informed choice, so that such individuals may prepare for, and engage in, high-quality employment that will increase opportunities for economic self-sufficiency.

4. Benefit People with Disabilities!

Up to $5,000 to nonprofits and community groups for programs benefiting people with disabilities. The funding is to increase access to programs in the focus areas of community wellness, education, research, recreation, and the arts. The purpose of the Rehab Project Grant program is to create opportunities for full participation of people with physical disabilities. The funder is committed to equal opportunities and improving community accessibility. Priority consideration will be for projects with multiple community partners to promote universal access, have clearly defined objectives, and demonstrate community support.

5.Support Medical Services for Veterans!

Grants to nonprofits for services addressing the medical needs of veterans. The funding is for treatments and programs for physical and mental injuries incurred while on active military service. Focus areas include physical recovery, brain health – including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and suicide prevention. The purpose of the program is to provide programs and services at no cost to active duty service members or veterans in the areas of mental and physical recovery from combat injuries.

6. Benefit Children with Mental and Physical Disabilities!

Also, grant funding up to $5,000 to eligible nonprofits for projects and activities benefiting children with mental and physical disabilities. Previous grant awards have been for therapy services, medical projects, preschool services, dance programs, and other special initiatives.

7. Benefit Individuals with Developmental, Intellectual, and Physical Disabilities!

Grants to nonprofits to improve the quality of life for adults and children with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities. The funding is for people with disabilities to function independently, be included in the community, and reach their highest potential. One of the Foundation’s priority initiatives is for early diagnosis and system navigation. The purpose of the program is also for an enhanced understanding of effective therapies for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, goals of the program include providing easy information access for families and caregivers, as well as ensuring that each individual reaches their highest potential.

8. Nonprofits Benefiting Communities!

There are grants up to $25,000 to eligible nonprofits for programs and services benefiting local communities. The funding is for needy children and adults, scholarships, health, education, and the arts. Priority consideration is for charitable organizations focusing on: providing physical therapy, care, recreation and/or education for disabled, needy, or orphaned children; care for needy persons who are sick, aged, or disabled; hospital, clinic, and other medical care and treatment for all needy persons, and alleviating human suffering.

9. Address Local Community Needs!

In addition, grants up to $15,000 to eligible nonprofits, government agencies, and public educational institutions to address the needs of local communities. Focus areas include health, human services, arts and culture, community, education, and the environment. The purpose of the program is to address current and emerging needs. Included for primary consideration are the areas of Healthfor rehabilitation services, promotion and maintenance of physical, dental, and mental health, and crisis intervention; and Human Services – for the elderly, disabled, and economically disadvantaged, minorities or other groups, housing/shelter, and public safety.

10. Benefit Senior Citizens!

Grants to nonprofits for programs benefiting senior citizens. The funding is for services and activities in the following categories: physical fitness, aquatics, health, and wellness. Funding categories also include social and recreation, adult daycare, nutrition, transportation, educational enrichment, outreach and reference, and support services. The funding will be a supplement to the service agencies and will not be the sole source of funding. One of the program areas for priority consideration is aquatics. Aquatics pool access will have several benefits for senior participants, including rehabilitation for ailments specific to aging, physical fitness, and relaxation activities.
