GrantWatch Celebrates the National Guard with 11 Grants

The National Guard first came into existence on Dec. 13, 1636, in Massachusetts. Every year, the nation celebrates the birth of this state-based military force and all the good work it does. It is composed of everyday people, most of whom hold down full-time, civilian jobs. Members of the national work one weekend every month. In addition, they dedicate two full weeks each year for the National Guard. They can also be deployed in times of emergencies or natural disasters to provide assistance and support.

Explore funding opportunities that support emergency response providers, members of the coast guard, military personnel, and law enforcement. These grants and many others help strengthen programs that keep our communities and country safe.

Celebrate #NationalGuardBirthday With Grants for Homeland and National Security

  1. Training and Equipment Grants: Grants for emergency response providers, including paramedic or EMS departments, fire departments, and law enforcement.
  2. First Responders: Grants to first responders to mitigate expenses. Funding assists with housing payments, work-related medical or mental health, and childcare or eldercare expenses.
  3. Reserve Service Members for Relocation: Up to $150 per child to active and reserve coast guard members for child care assistance for service families during relocation.
  4. First Responders, Military Personnel, and Veterans with Disabilities: Grant funding for first responders, military personnel, and veterans with disabilities for sports and fitness programs that enhance their physical and mental health.
  5. Safety Equipment and Services to Protect Officers: Grants to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to advance and promote safety for police officers.
  6. Veterans, Active Military, First Responders, and Families: Up to $25,000 to nonprofits and other organizations for programs that support local active members of the U.S. military, military veterans, first responders, and their families. 
  7. Competition to Demonstrate Wireless Technologies: Opportunity to participate in a competition to develop and demonstrate technologies that enhance unmanned aircraft during emergency situations.
  8. Protect Nonprofits Against Terrorism: Grants to state agencies for activities to prevent, respond to, and recover from the threat of terrorism.
  9. Trained Mobility Service Dogs: Trained mobility service dogs to first responders and veterans with service-related physical disabilities in eligible regions.
  10. Emergency Response Services: Up to $50,000 to fire departments and EMS agencies to improve emergency response capacity.
  11. Fallen First Responders: $5,000 to bereaved families of fallen first responders.
