AVDA’s Mission to Aid Domestic Abuse Survivors in Palm Beach County
Good news from a recent 12 News article: AVDA (Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse), a Palm Beach County nonprofit, is running a campaign to raise $40,000 by November 15 to match a pledge from an anonymous donor. The organization provides critical services to domestic abuse survivors, including a 24/7 hotline and an emergency shelter for victims, housing 263 individuals, including children. AVDA’s programs not only support survivors but also work to prevent abuse through community education. To support their work, donations can be made through their Purple Pajama Party fundraiser.
Grants for Organizations that Help Victims of Violence
1. Pet Care Expenses While the Owner is in a Domestic Violence Shelter
Financial assistance to USA individuals for pet housing and veterinary care while the owner is in a domestic violence shelter.
2. Grants to USA Nonprofit Organizations
Up to $20,000 to USA nonprofit organizations to assist immigrants. Donor prioritizes organizations that create innovative solutions for victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, and unaccompanied immigrant youth.
3. Pets of Victims of Domestic Abuse
Grants up to $1,000 to USA nonprofit shelters that provide housing for victims of domestic violence and their pets.
4. Programs to Benefit Children and Families
Grants to USA nonprofit organizations for projects and programs to benefit children and families. Funding is intended for activities that address domestic violence, including assault and human trafficking, and organizations that benefit children, especially in the foster care system.
5. Projects Addressing Gender-Based Oppression
Up to $50,000 to USA Indigenous women-led nonprofit organizations for community projects that address gender-based oppression and violence. Funding supports initiatives promoting gender and social justice, support women’s leadership and healing, and address and prevent gender oppression
6. Cooperative Agreement for Training
Cooperative agreement to a USA or territories nonprofit, tribal, or community organization to provide victim response resources and training programs to employers and victim service providers.
7. Criminal Justice and Community Safety Policies
Grants to USA nonprofit organizations to conduct research studies of interventions, practices, and policies in relation to the criminal justice system and community safety.
8. Accommodations for the Pets of Domestic Violence Survivors
Up to $60,000 to USA nonprofit domestic violence and animal organizations to ensure accommodations for pets of domestic violence survivors.
9. Multiple States to Benefit Local Children, Youth, and Adults
Grants of up to $10,000 to Arizona, Texas, California, Utah, North Carolina, Florida, Oregon, and Washington nonprofit organizations in eligible locations to benefit local residents.
10. New York, Florida, and Ohio Nonprofits
Grants to New York, Florida, and Ohio nonprofit organizations for programs to address a wide variety of issues in eligible communities. A Letter of Intent must be submitted before the full application.
