Golden Neighborhood Homeownership Program for 1st-Time Home Buyers

The Golden Neighborhood Homeownership Program is an income-driven community program to help people enter the ranks of first-time homeowners. GrantWatch strongly believes in promoting these kinds of opportunities.

What is the Golden Neighborhood Homeownership Program?

The GNHP Program provides increased opportunities for low and moderate income families to PURCHASE their first home in Jersey City! This program provides financial assistance with down payments, as well as closing closets for eligible First time Homebuyers.

Eligible GNHP homebuyers may receive up to 10% of the purchase price for the down payment on a home, plus up to $10,000 for closing costs.

Designed to help combat the challenge of overcoming dramatically rising rents, the Golden Neighborhood Homeownership Program initiative gives residents the chance to succeed in achieving homeownership where it would otherwise not be possible to accomplish. Last year, residents began submitting applications for this lottery program.

“This is a great opportunity to get the community engaged and educated about homeownership in our city,” said Mayor Fulop. “Our goal is to create and preserve affordable housing while also helping residents achieve homeownership where they may not otherwise be able to afford their own family home. This program can help them achieve those goals.”
