5 Grants in Honor of American Business Women’s Day
Since 1982, the American Business Women’s Association has sponsored American Business Women’s Day. Not only is the day meant to celebrate the innovative women already blazing their own path, but it is also intended to help other women find the resources they need to be successful entrepreneurs.
According to NerdWallet, the U.S. currently has 12.3 million women-owned businesses. This is a tremendous change from 100 years ago when many women were not even allowed to own their own businesses. However, even now, many women still face more challenges than their counterparts when they are making their way into the business world.
Statistics About Women-Owned Businesses in the U.S.
- Women own 51% of all privately held firms in the United States.
- Since 2020, there is an increase in funding for BIPOC women.
- Women-owned businesses receive only about 7% of all venture capital funding.
- There are 114% more women entrepreneurs than there were 100 years ago.
