Arkansas Gets Grant to Fund Arts Education That Will Help Students
Arts are important. Self-expression is essential. Ensuring that students can study and learn about the arts to have our next generation of artists is important. And part of this ensures that students can afford to be able to receive this education. In this current situation where so many have lost so much, and education is so expensive, this becomes even more critical. It also means being able to bolster these programs so that the highest quality of instruction can be taught to students. That’s why it’s so great to hear about Arkansas State University to be able to improve arts education and provide direct assistance to students. Wingate Foundation awarded the $6.4 million grant.
Speaking of arts, here’s a listed grant we have on Grantwatch to teach arts education in public schools in Florida.
Arts Education Is Super Critical and so Is Helping Students
So, what exactly will this grant go to do? It will go towards three separate funding choices.
Firstly, $3 million is going towards providing scholarships to students who are interested in studying arts at the Arkansas State University. These scholarships will be awarded on a needs-based basis. These funds will be used as direct assistance and will begin to support students in this upcoming new school year.
Secondly, The Bradbury Art Museum will receive $2 million for operations and programs. The Bradbury Art Museum is a contemporary art facility located on the Arkansas State University campus. The museum features a revolving display of contemporary art in all different mediums. According to the museum, the goal is to promote an understanding of art and its significance to our society. In this gallery, prominent artists on a regional, national and international level work to inform viewers of their art of cultural developments. This includes developments in the community in Arkansas, as well as on a national and international level.
And lastly, Windgate Center received a $1 million grant for Three-Dimensional Arts. In 2018, a $6.7 million grant to the Wingate Foundation funded the construction of this facility. The largest grant awarded to an arts program in ASU’s entire history.
This Grant Award Will Help With Arts Education
Chancellor Kelly Damphousse is excited about this grant to ASU.
Here’s what Chancellor Damphousse had to say about the grant this week: “On behalf of Arkansas State, I want to thank the Windgate Foundation for their ongoing support of the arts and our students,” Damphousse said. “We know the value that art plays in our communities, both on campus and across our region, and these grants will ensure the continued impact of both A-State and art in Northeast Arkansas.
