12 Must-See Grants for Teachers, Apply Now!
Grants for teachers help alleviate the financial burden many educators face when purchasing classroom supplies. Teachers often have to purchase their own supplies for special projects, decorating their classrooms, and creating learning environments. Even standard office supplies, like pens and paper, sometimes come out of a teacher’s personal savings. While the U.S. government gives a small tax credit to teachers for the school supplies they buy, most surpass this amount. Recently, 94% of public school educators reported that they dipped into their own funds to pay for class supplies. On average, teachers spend about $500 out of pocket, with nearly 10% reportedly spending more than $1,000 a year.
Proper funding allows teachers to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences and invest in essential materials—like books, science kits, and technology–to enhance the overall educational experience of every student. However, these additional resources are not always subsidized by schools. In recognition of the sacrifices and dedication of our teachers, GrantWatch is showcasing 12 grants to help ease the burdens of these costs. What’s more, there are 275 grants in total just for educators in the Teachers grant listing category.
